Franka Batelić was born on June 7, 1992 in Rijeka, Croatia. Her first contact with singing was at the age of three as a soloist with the "Minicantanti" choir. She has followed musical education in Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Massachusetts. Later she enrolled at the Zagreb School of Law. In 2007 she participated on the TV show Showtime and after her victory she signed a recording contract with Hit Records. Later the same year she was released her first single “"Ovaj daj”. A year later Franka released her second single “Ruža u kamenu”, the song gained the Public's Award in the Pop/Rock category at the “12th Croatian Radio Festival”. Her third single was recorded for the National Selection of Croatia for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, entitled “Pjesma za kraj”. On 13 February 2018 was announced by the Croatian National Broadcaster that Batelić will represent the country at the 63rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon with the song “Crazy”. “I would like to thank the Croatian Radio Television for their invitation and confidence. My team and me are aware of the responsibilities this experience needs and brings, but we are ready for the challenge and we will do our very best to represent Croatia in the best possible way in Portugal”, the artist affirmed. Crazy is composed by Branimir Mihaljević, produced by Branimir Mihaljevic & Denis Mevlja, and the lyrics are from Franka Batelić. Croatia will compete in the second half of the First Semi-Final at 8 May. |
