    It’s finally official, after the rumours of the last days, today the National Broadcaster of Cyprus CyBC announced that Eleni Foureira will be the representative of Cyprus in the 63 rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal with the song Fuego.
    Eleni Foureira saw born in 1987 and grew up in Kallithea, neighbourhood of Athens, Greece.  She was discovered and recruited in 2007 by Andreas Giatrakos as one of the 3 members of the group Mystique under a contract with Universal Music Greece. Two years after, she signed a contract with the same Label as a solo artist after the group disbanded, and in 2010 her debut album became reality entitled Eleni Foureira.
    She became very popular in 2011 with her participation in the charity program Just the Two of Us, hosted by Mega Channel. The next year her second album Ti Poniro Mou Zita gave her the chance to unfold the range of her talents and in 2014 the album Anemos Agapis established her as one of the most important female pop artists in Greece.
    Foureira is the crown jewel of music industry in Greece, she manages to sing and dance at the same time in highly professional level, be a sex symbol, fashion icon and strong performer. Every single performance of Eleni is so unique and professional that makes everybody talks about it for weeks and sometimes for years.
    Eleni won numerous awards over the years including Best New Artist, Fashion Icon in a Video, Video of the Year and Best Dance Video. Except music she has also expand her career in television and theatre. She made her theatrical debut in Barbarella: the 80's Musical (2015-2016) and she was one of the judges in the Greek version of the talent show So You Think You Can Dance (2017).
    Her love for Eurovision is well known, she attempts to represent Greece in 2010, by taking part in the national final with Manos Pyrovolakis, performing the song "Kivotos tou Noe". In 2013, she performed "Wild Dances" with Ruslana at Eurosong 2013 - a MAD show. Since then she attempts to represent Greece but unfortunately without results.
    Finally her dream will become reality performing for the colours of Cyprus in the second half of the First Semi Final at the 8 th of May in Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal. The song Fuego is composed by Alex Papaconstantinou, also known as Alex P and will be released in the coming weeks. The artistic director and choreographer Sacha Jean-Baptiste has been assigned for the staging of the entry, an experienced artist at the Eurovision Song Contest.
     This year Cyprus counts 35 participations, the best results among them was the 5 th place in 1982, 1997 and 2004.
