Stockholm 2016

    This morning SVT, the national broadcaster of Sweden revealed the host city of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, and it is Stockholm. Along with the city the dates of the 3 live shows was given to the press, the First Semi Final will be held at the 10th of May, the Second at the 12th and the Grand Final at the 14th of May 2016.

    The Venue will be hosted in the Globe Arena, it is the second time that this arena will host the Eurovision Song Contest in its history. The first was in 2000 after the victory of Charlotte Nilsson with the song “Take Me to Your Heaven” in 1999 in Jerusalem.

    Ericsson Globe (originally known as Stockholm Globe Arena) is the national indoor arena of Sweden, located in the Johanneshov district of Stockholm (Stockholm Globe City). The Ericsson Globe is currently the largest hemispherical building in the world and took two and a half years to build. Shaped like a large white ball, it has a diameter of 110 metres (361 feet) and an inner height of 85 metres (279 feet). The volume of the building is 605,000 cubic metres (21,188,800 cubic feet). It has a seating capacity of 16,000 spectators for shows and concerts, and 13,850 for ice hockey.
