The Crowns of Sweden

    Sweden is a beautiful country known for many beautiful things like its natural treasures, the historical Vikings, the music industry, Melodifestivalen and for her six crowns in the Eurovision Song Contest.

    The journey of Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest begun in 1958 in Hilversum, Netherlands, two years after the very first contest in 1956, the first representative ever was Alice Babs with the Swedish song "Lilla stjärna", the song climbed up the 4 th place with 10 points.

    The first victory of Sweden was in 1974 with an unknown band called ABBA, the quartet that meant to change the world of music forever. Their second attempt in Melodifestivalen with the song “Waterloo” brought them in the stage of Eurovision, and that was only the beginning for an international career. Waterloo was the favorite song of Eurovision fans in the celebration of the 50 years of the contest.

    Ten years later another one band, the “Herreys”, brought to Sweden her second victory with the song "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley" with 145 points. The three gorgeous brothers; Per Herrey, Richard Herrey and Louis Herrey remains in Eurovision History for their golden shoes.

    The third crown was brought to Sweden by a young lady in 1991, her name; Carola, and the winning song "Fångad av en stormvind" it was a big surprise for all in the 36 th edition of Eurovision Song Contest in Rome, that year the contest was broadcasted in Italian.

    Lady was the next artist that won the contest for Sweden in 1999 in Jerusalem. Her name is interwoven with beauty and glamour; Charlotte Nilsson remains one of the most beautiful ladies in the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song "Take Me to Your Heaven" won with 163 points.

    The next victory of Sweden is a historical fact not only because “Loreen” won the contest with 372 points but she gained 17 “12 points” with the song “Euphoria.” In Baku, Azerbaijan, Loreen gave an incredible performance for the 57 th edition of the contest in 2012.

    And last but not least, the Hero of Sweden Måns Zelmerlöw brought to Sweden her 6 th crown and made her the second country after Ireland with seven victories. The innovating performance of the song “Heroes” gained 365 points and brought a new era in the Eurovision Song Contest; the era of visual effects.

    After six victories, six memorable moments in the Eurovision history what else can we expect from Sweden, the fact is that she will always surprise us with her talents and her spectacular performances. See you all in Sweden 2016!
